    My hedgehog got sick, so I handfed it

    OK he’s not really MY hedgehog. He’s an SPCA hedgehog, who I’m fostering. Some kindhearted member of the public brought him in to the shelter after finding him in Island Bay covered in mange. The lovely SPCA vets gave him an anti-mange jab and I brought him home to live on the heated tiles in my bathroom while he recovers. In the first three days he lost LOADS of his prickles, but now they’re growing back and are between 5mm and 1cm long. A few days ago he stopped eating for 36 hours so I snuggled him until he would eat from my hand. Hurray! Healthy hedgehog!
